"I'm in a different department to anyone you think I'm in."
Keiron Higgins is a poet from Halifax, UK. Before writing and performing poetry he was previously a DJ, playing in a reggae/funk and soul collective based in Leeds. Previously referring to himself as a “punk poet” due to specialising in rhymic social commentary and pieces based on mental health, his love of musical subgenres and general outlooks on life, his peers have dubbed him “The (suedehead) bard of Halifax”

His work has been featured across Halifax in many different collaborative efforts with the Square Chapel, performing for the re-opening of Piece Hall after the pandemic and his name adorns a poem he wrote specially for a bar called “The Meandering Bear” which opened in 2019 in the Halifax town centre.

With his writing, he has released a total of 4 self-published books, been in a painted portraits gallery, and has had work featured in numerous zines and anthologies.

"Keiron's poetry is as sharp as his dress sense. Staccato rhythms that penetrate and empower. Pure punk"
“
"he does his town proud"
“
One of the best of the new writer-performers is Keiron Lee Higgins who can effortlessly hold a whole room under his spell without even raising his voice."

"Keiron is the undisputed suedebard of HX2 from 2012-present. The "Punk with a Northern soul" provides a link between Percy Shelley and Pete Shelley via kitchen sink reality and drama. His side hustle of deejaying informs his poetry, pulsating with music and British subculture references."

"Keiron Higgins isn’t your average poet. Dubbed “The (suedehead) bard of HX2,”
Keiron channels the raw energy of punk, ska, and hip hop into rhythmic social commentary
that hits as hard as a pair of scuffed Dr. Martens."
